The Land Party condemned the killing of 4 locals, 14 injured and one Zimbabwean in Diepsloot. The Land Party put the blame to the ruling party, the business and to some opposition parties in our country who are perpetuating xenophobic attacks by excluding locals from the labour market.
The Land Party raised this concern two years ago, that the continuation of the current status quo of excluding locals from the work place and employing only foreign nationals it's a recipe for xenophobia and unnecessary conflict between the locals and foreigners.
The Land Party proposed a new labour policy that will prioritise locals over foreign nationals and that 90% in the workplace be locals while 10% are legal foreign nationals. The Land Party further suggests that Somalis and Ethopians partner 50% with local landlords in our townships.
The Land Party strongly believe that as long as the status quo remains, the attacks on foreign nationals will continue as long as the government, business and some political parties continue in excluding locals in South Africa's labour market.
The current status quo is setting up the locals and foreigners to fight one another over limited resources and few job opportunities. The poor handling of crime by the police is a result of communities ending up taking the law upon themselves. Elvis Nyathi is not the person who has been torched and killed this way, Andile Mvumbi who was a member of the Land Party was also torched and killed in kwa Langa in the Cape flats.
