Here are 5 of the key elements of the LAND Party manifesto.
1. LAND
● Land expropriation without compensation through people's referendum. The LAND Party does not support the current Land Expropriation Bill as it is not a pragmatic solution to the Land question. The referendum question is 'Do you, as a law-abiding citizen of South Africa, support land expropriation without compensation? Vote Yes or No'.
● Each Community will have agricultural land to grow its food, do animal farming, and produce their dairy products
● Introduce Collective farming in LAND governed municipalities.
● All citizens must own property of no less than 500m2 and be in possession of title deeds.
● No non-national may own a second-hand house in our country, but they must be only allowed to invest in the building of new homes or they must rent.
● All second homes or holiday homes will be subject to higher taxes
● The LAND Party will rebuild some of the RDP houses, in particular those that are single rooms or 2-bedroomed houses
● The LAND Party will build new houses for the poor in predominantly white suburbs to end the apartheid spatial planning. This will allow people to reside closer to their places of employment and address the issue of integrating communities.
● No commercial or industrial land will be allowed to lie dormant and unproductive.
● Title deeds for all home-owners.
● No people will be evicted in LAND governed municipalities.
2. ECONOMY
● LAND governed municipalities will ensure that the employment of 90% local and 10% non-national employees is implemented in all businesses.
● Companies with 100% local staff will receive incentives like free water, electricity, and tax exemptions.
● We will encourage the poor communities to start businesses and the LAND governed municipalities will assist with subsidies to start businesses.
● The LAND will introduce indigenous people taxes and all big businesses will be subjected to pay these taxes to the indigenous people's trust fund. The taxes will address the reparations for indigenous communities
● All South Africans will be encouraged to grow Cannabis and Hemp and manufacture hemp products.
3. JOBS
● All businesses must employ a minimum of 90% locals and 10% non-nationals, provided they bring skills that locals do not have.
● Labour rights must be applied equally across the board to all employees and all companies who fail to adhere to the labour relations act, will not be allowed to do business in our LAND governed municipalities
● All companies that do not respect labour laws must be heavily penalized, and repeat offenders must not be allowed to operate in our country.
4. ELECTRICITY
● The LAND will scrap electricity auxiliary penalties from all households.
● Arrears accounts for basic services for households and businesses will be provided with maximum relief.
● All businesses will be allowed to generate their own electricity while subsidizing poorer communities with electricity from ESKOM.
● Each household will get electricity directly from ESKOM.
● Destitute families and poor households will get free electricity and water.
5. FISHING
● The LAND Party proposes that fishing be made compulsory in fishing communities so that it serves as a source of food, making a living, and community development.
● The LAND Party calls for decriminalization of Abalone poaching and for abalone to be a source of wealth for communities.
● Each community where Abalone is found must own an Abalone farm that will cater to the needs of the local communities.
● All citizens in fishing communities must be granted fishing permits and undergo aqua studies to understand how to preserve the ocean and its mineral resources.
● All Aqua farms must give 50% of their profit to the local communities or give scholarships to the children of the surrounding communities to study Aqua studies.
● Each household in a fishing community must have a fishing permit for all fishes or creatures in the Ocean.
