LAND Party supports the AbaThembu, His Majesty King Buyelekhaya Ahh Zwelibanzi Dalindyebo that our Monarchs cannot rely on the State or on politicians.
The LAND Party reiterates its position that the Monarchs must play an active role in the governance of South Africa. They must be involved in establishing laws and policies and ensure that the politicians implement them.
The LAND Party will continue supporting our Kings and Queens. Power must be given to the Kings and Queens by establishing a House of Monarchs which oversees parliament which should be named the House of the People.
Laws and policies should be submitted by the House of the People (Parliament) to the House of Monarchs for discussion and debate. Any amendments are then discussed and debated by the House of the People. When both houses agree on the law or policy it can be officially ratified and implemented. The House of Monarchs must ensure that all laws and policies are implemented effectively. This will make it very easy to monitor politicians and the governing party and keep them accountable.
Currently, nobody is holding the president or parliament accountable. They have free reign to do as they please which is the reason we have a corruption pandemic. For example, should a president want to get rid of a Chapter 9 institution he/she can simply pass a law to eliminate it. With oversight by a House of Monarchs, this would be prevented as all decisions made by the president would need to be ratified by the House of Monarchs.
The LAND Party advocates that the power must be given back to the people, the Kings and Queens are community-based leaders who are in touch with the people on the ground on a daily basis. Unlike many European monarchs, the Kings and Queens of South Africa live among their people and are accessible to their people.
The LAND Party is optimistic that by creating a House of Monarchs to provide oversight politicians who are entrusted with power will start doing their job and bring services to the people. As things stand they are not accountable to anyone except the political party they belong to.
The current system of government is corrupt, parliament lacks moral authority and the ruling party can recall the president at any given time without any broader consultation of the people. Whoever is the president can use parliament to fire the Chief Justice, the NPA, and any other strategic structures of government, without any consultation or approval from the people of South Africa. It is far too easy for the corrupt to abolish and weaken any intelligence unit or special unit, just like they did with the Scorpions.
If we allow the current system of government to continue, our State institutions will be weakened and South Africa will be no different from other failed African States where previous oppressors have placed puppets in positions of power. We cannot allow this to happen.
The LAND Party supports the King of AbaThembu. Kings and Queens must have a say in the law of the land. The structure of parliament needs to be changed if we have any hope of ridding South Africa of the plague of corruption that has become systemic. The Kings and Queens must work in the House of Monarchs to oversee the House of the People. In this way, politicians and government will effectively be held accountable and the risk of corruption and misuse of power drastically minimized.
