Game Over Mr. President

It is Land Party’s greatest wish that tonight, at his ‘family’ meeting, President Cyril Ramaphosa immediately ends lockdown and removes all restrictions. You have been dropping the ball, Sir. You have been living in Umlungu-land for far too long. You and the ANC are no longer fit to run this country because you are completely out of touch with the people.

People are starving and you expect them to worry about COVID? Even when those starving people take advantage of a protest situation and resort to looting because you have done sweet nothing for them for over a year, you have the audacity to blab on about this “better life for all” in the “Rainbow Nation”. You cannot put the majority of South Africans lives on hold and not provide adequate support.

The other thing that hasn’t changed much during the ANC’s tenure is the social fabric of communities. There is no rainbow nation. Racial tensions exist and are, in many instances, extreme. You made a big mistake by calling for private security forces to assist the authorities. You can’t sweep that under the carpet.

Over 300 people died and you chose to visit a shopping mall instead of the grieving families? You have sent soldiers into hostels looking for loot (which you’re going to destroy?) but nobody has gone looking for the murderers of the people in Phoenix?

Marikana, all over again. You have blood on your hands again, Sir. It is time you started learning from your mistakes and did what is best for South Africa and not for the ANC. It is time to finish your leadership by lifting the lockdown so the people of South Africa can get back to work (those who are lucky enough to have work), and proceed with the elections on 27th October 2021 so the people of South Africa can exercise their right to vote and choose the people on the ground who they know will do what’s best for the community.

It is starting to look like you are manipulating the media, the judiciary, and the IEC to serve your own ends and save the ANC. You cannot flog a dead horse. It’s time to do the right thing. Allow access to the CR17 bank statements if you have nothing to hide. Release Zuma with the standard contempt of court ruling. Continue with the elections as planned. We cannot wait indefinitely for theoretical waves of COVID variants to pass. If people can queue to get into a taxi to go to work, they can do the same to vote. It is very convenient that “panelists”, “experts”, and “scientists” know that the 4th wave will be coming in October and a whole lot of other information about a new strain that doesn’t even exist yet. Or does it?

It also appears as if you’re using the clean-up efforts and events like the Nelson Mandela Day Memorial lecture to openly campaign for the ANC whilst other political parties are prohibited from campaigning due to lockdown regulations.

The game is over Mr. President. People have run out of patience. It is time to move forward. Do the right thing for South Africa.
