Join the Land Party peaceful protest in Hermanus on Friday

The Land Party welcomes the many tourists who are attending the Hermanus Whale Festival this coming weekend. We trust that you will enjoy this beautiful place we call home and all it has to offer, and we know that every single resident will be putting their best foot forward to ensure you have an excellent time.

Sadly behind all this beauty racism runs rife. The Land Party wants tourists to be aware of how people, particularly non-white people and the working class, are treated in Hermanus. We want people to be aware that racism is tolerated by many and inequalities are supported by continued spatial segregation, lack of inclusion, poor labour practises and divisive attitudes in the social fabric of the community. The future of our town is being compromised by racism and it needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.

The Land Party will be conducting a peaceful protest on Friday 27th September, the opening day of the Hermanus Whale Festival, to raise global awareness of the fact that Hermanus is a very racist town. The only effective way racism, like all social ills, can be dealt with is by exposing it.

The peaceful protest will start from the Zwelihle Stadium at 10am, proceed into the village and then back again. The final route will be confirmed on Thursday 26th September. SAPS will be present to ensure everyone's safety.
