Land Party call for immediate action to address Coronavirus

The LAND call for the release of all prisoners, except those incarcerated for Violent Crimes, to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus and to prioritize the safety of prison officials.

The LAND also, asks the government to ban all travels, both domestic and international flights, as well as the import and export of all goods, immediately. The LAND asks the ministry of health and the minister of transport to coordinate a plan that will be deal with chemical fumigation at all entrance points between the nine provinces.

The LAND asks all schools and tertiary institutions to be closed down as part of safety precautions. The LAND also asks all religious leaders to participate and suspend all seminars or gatherings that might expose congregants or worshippers to the Coronavirus.

The government must cut tax for all retail stores or businesses so that businesses can deliver groceries or items to the consumers. There is no other time to take strict and tough actions against coronavirus as now.

All public clinics must be closed and the government must provide mobile clinics. The State must deliver medications to all chronic medication patients.

Each municipality, district and ward should spray fumigation in all areas that might be carrying or be at risk of carrying the virus. All pubs and clubs shut down and should only sell takeaways.

All officials or employees that come into contact with the public must wear protective clothing and adhere to a strict hygiene regime.

The LAND was the first political party to report that the Coronavirus is in the country, and forced the government to come out and declassify the information about the virus. Indeed, the following day, the government reported its first case of Coronavirus.

We believe there are many people who were actually infected and have even died because of the virus but the LAND is optimistic that the virus has now dissipated in all provinces. The government must release the real statistics of people affected by the Coronavirus immediately.

LAND asks the government to quickly act and implement these safety precautions.
