LAND PARTY Community Activists to Fight Eviction of Dubai Residents in Hermanus

Residents of the informal settlement of Dubai in Hermanus, Western Cape are facing an eviction notice brought against them by the developers who currently own the land. The issues surrounding the alleged illegal sale of this land to private developers has been raging for years, and it was recently announced that the Western Cape Provincial Government would be expropriating the land with reasonable compensation.

The eviction order comes as a surprise then to the community and adds further insult to injury as some of these community members have been fighting for a space to call home in Hermanus for more than 20 years.

As community activists, the LAND PARTY commits to supporting and fighting for the community of Dubai in the Western Cape High Court tomorrow against this eviction notice.
