We would like to thank all South African citizens that attended the #ReclaimClifton protest on Friday 28 December 2018, and to the organizers for so graciously and warmly welcoming our delegation from Hermanus.

The protest was peaceful, joyful and symbolic. A sheep was slaughtered to dispel hatred, anger, racial division and evil spirits that inhabited Clifton beach previously. All cultures, religions, races and people were well represented and participated in unity against racism.

We were offered the opportunity to perform a ritual where every participant was asked to throw a silver coin into the ocean to chase away the spirit of Jan van Riebeeck and to honour the gallant hero, warrior and prophet, Nxele Kamakhanda who died on Clifton beach after escaping Robben Island in 1819. An African verse was led by Gcobani Ndzongana to close the ceremony. We were honoured to have been asked by our fellow activists to perform this ceremony and we feel blessed to have received such courtesy and respect on this momentous occasion.

Our delegation was invited to attend a feast after the daily programme and we were kindly given some meat to take home and share with our community. A braai will be held at Gcobani Ndzongana's house in Zwelihle tomorrow.

We will soon be in communication with the organisers of the Clifton beach protest in order to perform a formal cleansing ceremony involving the Xhosa King, the Amarharhabe Queen and traditional healers, observing traditional protocol.

Although the PPA caused harm to peace and stability in South Africa, in negativity we always find positivity. They have in fact helped Africans to unite in diversity and to remember our forgotten hero Nxele Kamakhanda. In the African belief, the PPA was used by the spirit of our ancestors to unite our country and to quell the racial issues that keep us divided.
