#CycloneIdai that ravaged three southern African countries last week has adversely impacted at least three million people with a death toll of at least 686 and a further 128 000 people in transit centers and makeshift camps.

Land Party stands in solidarity with all those affected by this unprecedented storm and supports and encourages all humanitarian aid in the ongoing rescue operation with specific reference to the South African air force personnel who have been drafted in to assist with rescue operations.

All three affected countries rely heavily on foreign aid and support. The Gift of the Givers, a South African based disaster relief NGO, continues to offer aid in the form of medical supplies and expertise, clean water and food supply drops and rescue operations.

Land Party appeals to all South Africans to support our devastated neighbors in any way they can, calling on government and the SANDF to continue offering relief in this ongoing disaster.

With even bigger cyclones predicted in the future, a drastic change in the international attitude towards climate change and the effects thereof is needed with adequate budgets allocated to relief funding.
