Land Party members from the Western Cape will be marching in solidarity with the Society of Subcontractors on Wednesday 20 February to hand over a memorandum to the Building Industry Bargaining Council (BIBC).
The subcontractors regulated by the BIBC will be raising serious concerns over the minimum wage set by the BIBC combined with the high seal cost and low payment from the main contractors that are causing great financial strain to our businesses; as well as the penalties/fines issued by the BIBC regarding unregistered employees without proper consultation and consideration of the facts.
It is clear that the BIBC is not acting in the interests of the hard working people of the Western Cape struggling to make ends meet. The BIBC are in fact contributing to the unemployment rate and they must be stopped.
