The Land Party Chief Leader Gcobani Ndzongana visited the community of eZingqolweni yesterday (18 May 2021) and today (19 May 2021). He went to court to support the community appealing for a bail application for 12 community members who were arrested by the police on malicious charges. The Chief Leader of the Land Party observed that the people are living in fear because of criminals who are terrorizing the community and police that are intimidating the community, and randomly arresting community members.
The Chief Leader of the Land Party offered the family members of the accused families free legal assistance but the enemy that inflicted the pain to the community of eZingqolweni, the ANC, offered to assist the families with their own legal representatives. The Chief Leader of the Land Party is concerned that the ANC's intervention is not genuine and the enemy is exploiting the pain of the community of eZingqolweni for its ulterior motives, but time will tell.
The Land Party Chief Leader advised the families not to change the existing legal representative that is dealing with the bail application to avoid further delays in completing the bail application proceedings and assisted the community in petitioning the presiding officer to release the 12 accused members of the community.
The Chief Leader of the Land Party also appeals to the community of eZingqolweni, and their children in many areas across the country to unite in one voice and do things in unity. The divisions within the community will make things very difficult for the accused members of the community and may compromise their cases going forward. The Land Party Chief Leader also wants the community of eZingqolweni to stop living in fear and confront the enemy that is destroying their community.
The Chief Leader of the Land Party demands the Director of Public Prosecutions not to oppose the release of the arrested Community members but rather to support the release of the 12 members of the Community members that have been arrested for mischievous and baseless reasons. The Chief Leader of the Land Party also demands from the Minister of Police, Mr Bheki Cele, to immediately provide the following to that community :
1. That a Mobile Police station be stationed in Ezingqolweni Village as a short-term solution and build a police station as a long term solution;
2. Employ youth from eZingqolweni as horse riding Community policing Forum men and women by providing them with horses for easy patrols;
3. Erect streetlights.
The Land Party Chief Leader asks the community of eZingqolweni to remain resolute and defend elderly people from blood-thirsty criminals. Community members must not be apologetic in demanding the release of their community members who are arrested for nothing but being used as a scapegoat by the police so that they must appear as if they are fighting crime while they have, in fact, failed the community.
The Land Party Chief Leader wants to assure the community of eZingqolweni that the Land Party will always stand side by side and fight side by side with the community in bringing safety and security to the elderly people in the community. The Land Party legal team is also on standby for the community of eZingqolweni when it is needed. The Chief Leader of the Land Party is excited to fulfill his promises and visited the community of eZingqolweni to show his necessary and unequivocal support to the community.
The Chief leader is pleased with the words of encouragement received from the Family members of the accused people who have taken him into their confidence regarding their situations.
