Land Party Victory in Court Postponed to 21 June

The case against Land Party Chief Leader, Gcobani Ndzongana has been postponed to 21 June, as the second last witness floundered through his testimony and cross-examination today. Since the charges were first brought against Gcobani Ndzongana last year, there were initially five witnesses, however, one withdrew leaving only four. The last witness will be heard on the 21st.

Most notable is the failure of any of the witnesses to provide any evidence whatsoever that proves that Gcobani Ndzongana is guilty of inciting violence or damaging property - the only charges he faces. As the case has progressed and been dragged out it has become abundantly clear that the charges and arrest were politically motivated and amount to nothing more than an enormous waste of state resources and shameful abuse of our justice system.

In support of the Chief Leader today were hundreds of Land Party activists and Zwelihle community members singing and dancing outside of the Stellenbosch Magistrates Court. Ahead of the court case, the Land Party had received word that a mob of people led by a certain "poo activist" would be in attendance to attack the chief leader and his supporters, and to wreak havoc outside the court room. Not surprisingly they did not follow through on their threats and the day remained peaceful and joyous.

The Land Party extends an invitation to the media, supporters and even angry sell-outs and poo throwers to attend the postponed court case on the 21st of June, as well as a separate case at the Cape Town High Court on the 18th of June involving a dispute between Zwelihle residents of the Dubai settlement and the man claiming to own the tract of land illegally sold to him by the Overstrand Municipality.
