Police Corruption needs URGENT attention

The LAND Party condemns the two assassinations of two policemen in the Western Cape in the last two days. The LAND Party is concerned that gun-related crimes are on the rise in the Western Cape.

The LAND Party appeals to the government and the minister of police to reintroduce Police Villages, where police can stay safely and be protected 24/7.

Building police villages will not only guarantee safety to the men and women in blue, but also reduce corruption within the police services. As long as the status quo remains, we will continue seeing these assassinations as we are aware that criminals are now in charge of our communities.

The LAND Party wants the minister of police to take the public into confidence by giving reasons why the security personnel was removed from the house of Colonel Charl Kinnear even though he was known to be investigating high profile cases?

The LAND Party is certain that Colonel Charl Kinnear was set-up for assassination from within the police services. It does not make sense that security was withdrawn by the South African Police Service.

The LAND Party believes that, within the South African Police, there are police officials who are collaborating with criminals to assassinate those committed to bringing change and stability in our communities. The LAND Party is seeking answers and those responsible be exposed and face the full might of the law.

The LAND Party sends its condolences to the families of these dedicated police officials and to the community of Bishop Lavis. Our country continues to lose good men of integrity and honor who leave their families behind suffering while criminals enjoy a lavish lifestyle and political protection.

The LAND Party asks Minister Cele to start acting against the corrupt police officials within the police services immediately as well as those who are conniving with the criminals to eliminate good citizens.
