The LAND Party condemns the behaviour of the police towards the South African artists who decided to take it upon themselves to peacefully protest against the current regulations which is causing them emotional, psychological, and financial distress.
The LAND Party calls for government to allow our artists to operate and to continue entertaining our people so that they are be able to support their families and their communities. LAND also asks government to support each artist with a financial boost of R100 000 as a recovery start-up.
The LAND Party notes the government’s behaviour towards the non-white artists during these protests and it is extremely concerning. It is disgraceful that non-white protesters are met with bullets and teargas by the police while white protesters are handled differently, even if they are aggressive towards law enforcement.
The LAND Party asks all South Africans to join hands, regardless of colour, religion or creed, and particularly the poor, to stand up against the brutality meted out against the artists who make an immensely positive contribution in our communities and are excellent ambassadors for South Africa.
