LAND Party welcome decision from the government for mass mobile testing. We appreciate the fact that the President came into senses and realized that the LAND Party is the only political party offering pragmatic solutions to deal with the COVID-19 virus.

LAND Party have been saying lockdown without mass testing is meaningless. The LAND Party has been the only party to come up with solutions to stop the virus ravages the country. We hope that the President starts implementing more of our solutions.

LAND Party believe that the country is dealing with the virus decisively and applaud the government stringent measures to combat the COVID-19 virus.

LAND Party also asks the government to disinfect retirement homes, informal settlements, schools, bus stations, taxi ranks, clinics, hospitals and shopping malls.

LAND Party calls on the President to heed the advice of Dr Neva Makgetla and recognise that a 24/7 lock-up isn’t possible for people in tiny spaces with no yard. As she has suggested blocks can be designated as household spaces for the lockdown, and citizens told to keeping physical distance and stay within these blocks.

LAND Party calls on the Minister of Telecommunications to legislate the mobile service providers give all subscribers an amount of free airtime each day during this period.

LAND Party urges the President to ensure that local authorities involve community leaders in disaster management in order to effectively mobilise and educate communities as he outlined when he announced the lockdown.
