The Land Party is very concerned about the silence of the South African government about the killing of Lindani Myeni by Honolulu Police. The silence of the South African government is deafening. In a normal state or country, the government authorities would have addressed the nation and given a full explanation about the death of a South African citizen killed in a foreign country.
The police in the United States of America have a history of killing Black people, and therefore, it can't be business as usual when one of our own citizens has been killed by police in the USA. The Land Party is sure that if Lindani Myeni was Lynette McCain our government was going to play in the gallery and take the matter very seriously but because the victim's name is that of an African, he is receiving no attention.
The Land Party ask president Ramaphosa to take the nation into confidence and give details of the death of Lindani Myeni, how the government will intervene, and how they are going to assist the family at this difficult time. The Land Party further ask president Ramaphosa to tell his counterpart President Biden to apologize to the people of South Africa and to the family of Lindani Myeni who became a statistic of American police brutality.
The Land Party do not take kindly the death of Lindani Myeni and wishes to send its sincere condolences to Myeni's family. We are in pain together with the family, his wife and two young children. Your loss is black people's loss, therefore the killing of your son by American racist police is our collective suffering as black people.
