Uncovering the rot in the Overstrand Municipality.

The Land Party welcomes the investigation of the Overstrand Municipality as this investigation will uncover the rot in the Overstrand Municipality. The Overstrand Municipality Housing department caused a great harm to the community of Zwelihle and to the Greater Hermanus in 2018 because of the corruption in that Municipality.

The people have lost lives, leaders abandoned their homes and others being threatened because of a fight back strategy by those who have been using the Overstrand Municipality as a cashcow. It is for this reason the people have lost trust in the Overstrand Municipality and its officials.

The LAND believes the investigation of the Overstrand Municipality is because of determination and energy put by the Chief Leader to uncover corruption, and expose that corruption is number one pandemic that faced our country, and this pandemic has caused sufferings to millions of South Africans, particularly the destitute poor people and the working class.

The Land Party will remain the beacon of hope to the masses of our people who are homeless, shackdwellers because of the scourge of corruption that is facing our country. The Land Party will remain a watchdog and the vanguard of the people regardless of color and ethnicity. The LAND urges the SIU not to leave any stone unturned and the party leadership is willing to assist with any information required by the Special Investigation Unit.

The LAND will also ask the Overstrand Municipality to halt all land sales in the Overstrand Municipality as the party will also ask a review in all land sales by Overstrand Municipality to mention few, Fernkloof Golf Estate, Marine Village, Abagold and others. The party strongly believes that some of these sales were improper and not all processes were followed like Schulphoek. The Land Party will also ask reviews in all Municipality lease agreements with private companies.
