Victory is Ours!

Whatever the IEC results, LAND Party has won!

Salute to the thousands of people who came out to vote for us.

Salute to those who have worked hard and made it possible for the poor and the working class to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

Salute to the comrade leaders in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Gauteng who have stepped up to serve their communities in local government against all odds. You have succeeded.

The balance sheet of equity has moved further into the black. There is a lot of work to be done. We need to ensure that people, particularly the youth, are registered to vote. We need to make sure that all citizens are documented. We need to make sure people get access to government services like home affairs. We need to hold the IEC accountable for every single voter that could not vote. We need to continue to fight for the dignity and the rights of the poor and the working class. The LAND revolution has begun.

This election, the turnout, the shenanigans, the corruption, and the results, sadly, very sadly, show how unequal South Africa is. The expressions of those who were turned away from the voting station they have voted at since 1994, or of young first-time voters who had registered but weren’t on the voters roll, were heartbreaking. Poor people, walking miles in the pouring rain to go and cast their vote while the privileged hop in their cars and turnout in their numbers.

We predict that the results of the 2021 Local Government Elections will prove that a small minority are able to continue to monopolise the government as a direct result of their privilege.

This victory is bittersweet.
